• Updating the system with latest releases: Updating of computer’s software’s is essential in ensuring that any security holes and errors that occur are taken care of. Also these updates make the operating system and other installed software’s to perform better thus improving the overall performance of the computer. Some of the operating system such as windows 7 and windows vista have the Automatic update utility which when enabled makes the computer to be up to date all the time.

This can be achieved by performing disk cleanup task and disk defragmenting task. Disk cleanup task removes unwanted content while disk defragmenting consolidates data on the hard disk. • Scan and repair of computer registry: Errors such as DLL and runtime errors occurs incorrect and invalid entries in the windows registry. All the information about software’s and operating system installed in the computer are hold by the registry. Therefore it is important to make sure that the registry is scanned, cleaned and repaired regularly.
